The sun is out, the days are warmer, and you’re ready to get outside. What better way could there be to enjoy spring weather than a hike? We’ve got three great hikes to enjoy this spring, just minutes from your Lehi apartment:
Stewart Falls is a three-tier waterfall on the back side of Mt. Timpanogos, just minutes from your Lehi apartment. The trail to Stewart Falls is open year round. In winter, you can enjoy it on snowshoes, and in the spring as the snow starts to melt the waterfalls are particularly spectacular. The trail is easy enough for families, and a moderate 4-mile round trip. There are trailheads at both Aspen Grove and Sundance Resort.
The Silver Lake Trail is up American Fork Canyon. From your Lehi apartment, take I-15 to exit 284 and head east to the canyon on SR92. About 5 miles up the canyon, take the left fork onto North American Fork Canyon Road toward Tribble Fork Reservoir. Continue through the campground, and the trailhead is at the parking lot for Silver Lake Flat. The out-and-back trail is 4.5 miles long, and moderately strenuous with a little over 1400 feet of elevation gain. It’s beautiful in the spring, taking you through groves of newly green aspens and past streams rushing with snowmelt on your way to Silver Lake.
Cascade Springs is a naturally terraced set of pools and waterfalls fed by groundwater. Spring is an ideal time to hike there, when the springs are gushing and the surrounding vegetation is just turning green. As a plus, there are lots of boardwalk trails that are accessible for wheelchairs and strollers and unaffected by snowmelt, and that offer plenty of benches and bridges from which to enjoy the scenery. Other trails let you wander around the major flow areas to enjoy even more of the scenery. This trail is also up American Fork Canyon. From your Lehi apartment, again take SR92 off of I-15, but this time bear right at the fork to take the South Fork road for about 5 miles to the trailhead.
Within just a few minutes of your Lehi apartment, there’s so much to do outdoors that you’ll hardly scratch the surface if you wait until summer. The trails are waiting! You don’t have to let one more beautiful day go by.
